Nonpublic Schools
Nonpublic schools are a vital part of Maryland's education system, enrolling more than 131,000 K-12 students throughout the state and saving state taxpayers more than $1.5 billion annually in per-pupil costs. Families choose nonpublic schools for a wide range of reasons, including academic programs, class size, location, religious education, and service programs. BOAST Maryland believes that every family should have the opportunity to choose the school that best suits their child's needs, interests, and talents.
The BOAST Maryland Tax Credit (MD House Bill 946/Senate Bill 385) will encourage business donations to scholarship programs for nonpublic school students and teachers, especially those that benefit lower- and middle-income families. This support will ensure that nonpublic schools and the overall education system in Maryland remains strong.
